Summary of Co-op pool membership

  • Motor carriers, shippers, and others can join CCM Pools
  • Operates on a cost pass through basis with no profit
  • Provides for a single pool for all users that wish to participate
  • Will allow several neutral pool operators in each CCM pool
  • Allows flexibility to accommodate non-contributors through neutral pools members
  • Facilitates chassis pool terminal efficiencies

CCM addresses industry needs

CCM Pools address the industry needs, mandated by many ports and railroads, that there is only one primary chassis pool operating at a given terminal facility. The Pools support these requirements for a single pool by allowing chassis leasing companies to continue their “neutral pool” leasing businesses from within the CCM pool. Motor carriers and other entities are also able to become members of the CCM Pools.

“Maximize availability, utilization and value”
“Minimize redundancy, congestion and waste”

CCM Insurance Program

The successful startup of CCM pools to date has allowed CCM to develop more competitive insurance coverage for chassis usage. Many members have seen reductions in their insurance rates as a result of CCM bringing additional insurers into the market. Pool members have the option to insure against liabilities arising from the use of pool chassis on public roads (over-the-road coverage).

Choice of Chassis Provider

MOTOR CARRIERS AND SHIPPERS

Often the chassis customer has little choice in choosing its chassis provider. A container is placed on a chassis at the rail or ocean terminal before the motor carrier arrives for pick up. Unless the container is taken off the chassis and placed on another chassis, the chassis provider is already determined by the ocean container. Within a CCM pool, there are many chassis providers and some of them participate in a program that allows the customer to choose a chassis provider without having to lift the container onto a new chassis.

Through the Choice Program you can choose your own chassis provider. That means…

  • Your own terms
  • Your own rate
  • With your chassis provider.

We are the only pool to offer Motor Carrier/Shipper Choice.

CCM can allow the chassis customer to select their preferred chassis provider in its pools on specified chassis movement. There are some restrictions. Shippers and motor carriers can choose a provider when the ocean carrier and the ocean carrier’s on-terminal chassis provider participate in this CCM program.

The FAQ document explains the process for making these changes. A list of the ocean carriers allowing choice by exception may be found by clicking the link to chassis provider search.
